The Voting Begins
Today, January 3, is the Iowa caucuses, the first voting in the upcoming Presidential election. Believe it or not, I have been asked numerous times who I endorse. Well, certainly my endorsement doesn’t mean anything, and anyone who decides who to vote for based on the endorsement of any blogger, or celebrity, or newspaper, or politician, probably shouldn’t exercise their right to vote at all.
That being said, having been asked multiple times, I strongly support Rick Santorum for President. He best represents Catholic moral principles and has done so consistently in his public and private life. He also has the experience to deal effectively with both our domestic and foreign affairs. He is certainly intelligent and substantive enough to successfully debate Obama. He brings virtually no baggage with him, and has the charisma to engage the vast number of American voters who cast their votes based on style rather than substance.
I am not publicly supporting him in order to encourage anyone to vote for him based on my recommendation, but I urge everyone to give him a serious look and become knowledgeable about his positions and history. Also, if you like what you see, consider donating to his campaign. The main thing keeping him from being the front runner right now, I believe, is that he doesn’t have the financial resources of a Ron Paul, Mitt Romney or Rick Perry.
Most of all, pray. The upcoming election is a critical one for our country and the world. Let us place it in God’s Hands, and trust that no matter what happens, “all things work for the good of those who love God,” and that He will give us the Grace to be faithful and righteous.
