Just a Thought
California’s Proposition 30 is a tax hike that promises to provide money for
schools. That part is debatable, but
there are trigger cuts that will be enacted if the proposition fails. Schools routinely cover abortions in their
student “health” plan (i.e. at taxpayer expense) and at least one (UC Berkeley)
covers 90% of a $75,000 sex change procedure.
Now I don’t believe a Catholic is
obligated to vote either way on Prop 30.
It is a prudential judgment, and I suspect it would provide funds for
important purposes. But from my
perspective, until our money can stop being spent for immoral uses, I’m not
voting to give them any more, from anywhere.
Of course, we have to make the reason for our protest known if we hope
to have any change. Something to think
about…
