The entire Old Testament is a preparation for the New and Eternal Covenant, brought about by the central event of human history – the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We will be reminded of this on Sunday when we hear in the first reading the promise God makes to David, to be fulfilled in Jesus, the Begotten Son of God, born into a human family in David’s line.
